Squires2Knights Devotional for Mentoring Our Teenage Boys, Teaching Topic 3.2:
To Christ: Our “righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ” and we have “put on a new self” through Christ. No longer “under the law” of the old covenant, our identity “in Christ” directs our heart, mind, and soul to the nature and character of Jesus Christ, the “life-giving spirit.” Christ-likeness.

Released to Freedom
James Dobson offers effective preventive counsel for the preteen who is heading down the rocky road of adolescence. In his book Preparing For Adolescence, Dr. Dobson compares his written advice with the “sign man” warning a driver: “Bridge Out Ahead.” By giving advanced notice of the danger, the driver can choose a safer route and avoid destruction. Just as a preteen can avoid the danger, so can a young man avoid the early “grownup” destructive habits that take so many down the wrong path. The Christian life starts with an understanding of our inherited sin-nature and comes to fruition with an understanding of our identity in Christ. |

Get Off the Treadmill
For our final devotion in this series we will shed light on our identity as Christians - our identity in Christ. Equipped with this new identity, we will give up any works-based faith and get off the treadmill of self-sufficiency. We will put off the old self and put on the new. Never perfect this side of heaven, we will be transformed to the image of Christ as we live a new life under the grace of God. |
